The start of a race is one of the most stressful times, and not just for the teams and drivers. Trying to decide which corner to shoot from, and how is always a bit of a gamble.
Luck improves with practice, but generally speaking its always a safe bet to head down to the first corner.
Here you will be virtually guaranteed some action - be it contact, spinning, or even someone running wide .. and even when all goes well, with the pack bunched up, it generally makes for a good shot.
The only thing is because of that, everyone and their dog are down there...which is fine, but means you need to work a little harder to get a 'unique' shot. Some times this isn't easy, but both the shots shown in this post, were shot on the same corner.. just from very different vantage points, and different lenses.
