As the half way point approached, attrition resulted in more retirements - the #76 Schubert z4, succumbing to accident damage after a collision in pflanzgarten with an SLS, eliminating it from the running.
Further back the Farnbacher Ferrari had begun its slow climb back toward the front, reaching first in class (SP8) by 2am, but still down in 20th odd place.

Mercedes were being affected a little too - with the highly fancied Mamerow SLS crashing out on the gong of midnight.

At the front though, by a few minutes, the Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was establishing itself as the leader, and seemed to have enough in reserve to combat the pace threat from Audi, Mercedes and BMW.
