Race 1 for the GT4 series at Portimao got off to a thrilling start, with Matt Nicoll-Jones and Michael Mallock making moves early on to pass Jordan Tresson's Nissan 370z.

Lucas Ordonez in the sister 370z was running well, in second early on, and looked set for a podium except an irregularity with the pit stop mean he had to have a stop + go penalty.

Michael Mallock's charge, and title hopes faded after his gear box failed, resulting in him retiring.

This left the end result being Rhesus Racing Aston Martin with Paul Meijer first, Matt Nicoll-Jones in the IMS Motorsport Ginetta G50 2nd, and Jordan Tresson making his first podium in the RJN Nissan 370z.
