The number 1 Peugeot 908 HDI FAP driven by Anthony Davidson and Nicolas Minassian won the Autosport Silverstone 1000km Le Mans series race in style.

It started with an epic battle, Davidson harrying McNish in the lead Audi every which way, until forcing his way through about 8 laps in, where upon McNish became the mosquito to Davidson.

Unfortunately hopes of a race long battle were thawted just 30 minutes in, when Audi number 7 coasted to a halt suffering from a problem with the differential, and retired. Most unlike Audi!

This meant the second Peugeot - number 4 - was now second, and it remained that way until the end.

This was in part due to the fact that the second Audi was suffering from immense understeer problems, but also due to Audi opting to run more conservatively in order to be sure that the car would reach the finish

The result leaves Peugeot firmly in the lead in the three part Intercontinental Le Mans Cup - the next event is Petit Le Mans
